This summer was a gift. I wrapped up my last role in June after three and a half years, and instead of rushing into the next thing, I gave myself the season to focus elsewhere. I was able to help my mom through her recovery from surgery (she’s doing great!) and enjoy real time with friends and family. I also continued leading Unity Conejo, a community organization where I’m board president, fresh off a joyful Pride celebration we put on for about 700 people in May. I also kept my skills sharp with some fun side projects, including a World Cup simulation for Atlas Altera, a shared worldbuilding project, and Bettor, the play-money betting platform I built to go with it.
Now I’m ready to jump into my next opportunity. I’m looking for backend or full-stack software engineering roles, remote or hybrid in the Los Angeles area. Ideally I’d be building things that matter to the people who use them, whether those people are end users or other engineers. (Bonus points if the work helps folks do some good in the world!)
At Loop Returns, I was a backend-leaning full-stack engineer working primarily on core financial systems, return-policy logic, and API interoperability, and I led the redesign of a server-driven, multi-client return creation API using HATEOAS principles to power a platform handling about 100,000 new returns daily. The redesign made the flow safer, faster, and easier for many more clients to build on. On the side, I’ve continued building Ampara, a multi-tenant CRM/CMS for community organizations, which Unity Conejo now runs on and which handled all registration and donations for our annual Pride event this year.
I’ve shipped professionally in TypeScript, PHP/Laravel, and C#/.NET, and I’ve picked up enough stacks along the way to be comfortable in a new one. Long before I was an engineer, I was a paratrooper, so I know a thing or two about landing well and moving quickly to the objective.
